A rail gun!

Finally got around to adding a bunch of new stuff to my game, converted the weapon system over to my new concept which allows for much easier implementation of weapons. I have also added a little variety in my guns, having now created the underlying code for semi-automatic, automatic, burst fire and hitscan weapons now!

I've been playing around with the idea of snipers/rail guns etc. and how to implement "Headshots" into a 2D top down game....

Optimisation and new features

Havn't posted much recently as I hadn't added any real new features to the game (I've been too busy optimising my current code). I only found out that it is best to work at 720p on the xbox 360 in order to allow most TV's to display the game without edges being cut off (As I had seen at Trudy's and my girlfriend's house) as the Xbox 360 upscales the image for 1080p (Luckily for me, all of my assets are very simple and therefor easily resizeable, the only thing that could possibly change is that...

Oblivion Take You!

I'm afraid my Oblivion addiction has totally taken over, I'm sorry everyone!

I've always wanted the PC version cos of the mods. After getting it on Steam, I've probably spent more time adding and playing with mods than I have in the actual game. Most of the mods I have added are there to enhance the realism of the game. I'm pretty sad and like to actually role play when I play Oblivion, so my character has a back story, motives, ambitions, and when I loot dungeons, take on quests,...

Hard testing, and next plan of attack

After today's playtest, we managed to discover a game crashing bug!

Unfortunately, all I got out of it was an "Error code: 4" (General error), but then I stumbled across the following website which talks about a method of extracting all the debug information directly from the xbox without the need for me to lug around a computer with VS2008 and the XNA framework on it (I don't have a laptop ).

Now that I have a means of debugging, I plan to test...

Moving On!

I need to make a start on my summer plans, I only have two months to get cracking!

There were a few things I wanted to do:
  1. Start work on modules for next year.
  2. Learn how to make Flash games from scratch.
  3. Learn how to make Mods for Oblivion.
  4. Re-write my GDD.
  5. Turn my other ideas into GDD's.
  6. Do some writing
Well.. Everyone has game ideas. It's no surprise that I have a box full myself. But I really enjoyed writing that GDD for the assignment, and even if nothing ever...
