Hi Guys,

Thanks to those who came yesterday and had a go at Christmas NiGHTS and the hilarity which was Fighters Megamix. Some of us went out for a buffet afterwards, which was nice!

This newsletter is a reminder for the Christmas Party this Thursday. It’ll cost £3 on the door, or join the society instead.. You know you want to

Don’t forget to actually join the society: go to the Welcome Desk in the Students Union, ask to join the Computer & Video Games Society, hand over £3 and then do a little dance!

Every Friday, 3:30pm-6pm
Red's Bar for Drinks/Chat
Students Union Training Room for Games

The training room is located on the first floor of the Students Union. Go up the stairs, turn right, go through the doors and follow the hallway to the end, turn right again, and we’re in a room on the right. If you arrive early I’ll wait outside to show people in, and you can ask at the welcome desk for directions.

Some of us also meet up afterwards in Red’s to talk about society things, so those two hours are for gaming only, the talky bits come after for those that want to have a say in how the society is run (Although this seems to be turning into “Let’s get food and stand around talking for hours!”).

Weekly Themes

So far we've played Left 4 Dead, Forza 3, Modern Warfare 2, Halo 3, Tekken 6 and Soul Calibur 4, Rock Band, Halo 2 and some Saturn/Retro games. This is the schedule for next week:

Thursday 10th Dec: Christmas Party in Domain! Saturn with Christmas NiGHTS, Wii with Mario Kart, Smash Brothers and Samba de Amigo and Two 360’s with FPS’ and Rock Band.
Friday 11th Dec: Wii Night (Mario Kart, Smash Brothers Brawl)
Monday 14th Dec: Smash Brothers Brawl tournament in Red’s!
Friday 18th Dec: This is the last day of term, so we’ll let you know what we have planned later on. A repeat of music night would be good!

Although we have every Friday booked, I’m not sure if we’ll actually have any meetings outside of term time due to the SU being closed and people going home for the holidays. I’m offering up my lovely house for people who live locally to come round and play some games, have some drinks and watch crappy video game films though, I have the space and we’re not far from Newcastle

Online Tournaments

Members can come to whichever meetings they like, and are not obliged to attend every meeting. You can just come for special events or trips if you like! But to accommodate people that just want to stay at home, we're looking for online games, either on Xbox Live or Steam, that we can create a tournament for.

GameHorizon Christmas Party

After the success of the Creative Collision event, GameHorizon are having a small Christmas Party with games, food, drinks and the chance to network with game companies in the North East which is a great opportunity if you’re looking for jobs or placements up North.

The event itself takes place at 7pm on Thursday, 10th December, which is at the same time as our Christmas Party. We won’t cry if you decide to go there instead, but I believe it costs about £30. They haven’t posted any details on their website yet, but Darren may be able to tell you more and post some info on the forum.

Christmas Party

The Christmas Party will take place this Thursday the 10th December, from 7:30pm – 11:30pm in Domain. A separate email has already gone out, but I’ll keep reminding people anyway

The room is booked from 7pm-12am, so we don’t mind if you come just after 7pm, as we’ll try and get consoles and things set up as quickly as we can.

Brawl & Beer Night

Instead of the charity events for this year, which we’re going to move back to next semester instead, we’re having a Wii Brawl Tournament on Monday 14th December, 7:10pm at Red’s!

We’re hoping to get many different courses and societies involved, so please pass it around. Sign up on the forum or at the meetings so we can make a fair tournament bracket for those that want to take part: http://www.creativegamers.co.uk/foru...read.php?t=306
