Here are some events that are happening soon within the Computer and Video Game Society:
Society Committee Meeting
Next week, we will be having our first Society Committee Meeting of the year. This will be a chance to talk about issues involving the society, discuss what you liked about last semester, and what events and gaming sessions you want this semester!
C&VG Society Committee Meeting
January 29th 2010
2pm @ Red's
Society meeting as normal at 3pm!
Try and get there just before 2pm so we can start on time and get finished before the normal gaming session at 3pm!
Agenda:
- Feedback for events from Semester 1: Our progress so far.
- Current events for Semester 2: Tournament every Monday in Red's and gaming session in the SU Training Room.
- Future events & plans: YOUR IDEAS!
- Ideas for improvements.
- Ideas for attracting new members.
- Any other business.
If you want an item placed on the agenda to talk about in the meeting, please post in this thread so we can cover it.
What YOU Need to Bring:
- Ideas for tournaments/gaming sessions!
- Any information on gaming events in the UK you want the society to organise or pay towards.
- Ideas for gaming equipment the society could pay for.
- Cookies.
Society Tournaments & Meetings
We now meet every Monday, 6:00pm-10:00pm at Red's for gaming tournaments each week and every Friday, 3:00pm-6:00pm for casual gaming fun. Here is our schedule:
Child's Play Fundraiser
Currently, we're looking into the possibility of hosting a fundraiser for the Child's Play charity, or Children's hospitals within the North East. The idea we've had so far is a video game character costume/cosplay party within Reds, possibly with a prize for the best dressed. There, we would then encourage people to donate what they can towards the charity.
Some game designers last year went on a night out dressed as game characters, and we're going to see if any other Northumbria Societies would be interested.
We'll keep you updated!
Event Ideas:
Within the near future, we would like to try some of the following ideas:
- Mass LAN gaming sessions.
- Inter-society gaming tournaments.
- Gaming tournaments with other Universities.
- Other charity fundraisers.
- Meetings at the North East IGDA SIG.
- Meetings at events in the NE, such as GameHorizon.
